Balancing tart twang with blazing fretwork has become another formula in the modern world of country music, at a time when its back in vogue to bring elements of rock into the mix. Reno, Nevada, band Huckleberry Road transcend the average with those styles, though, as shown on their latest single, “Raybans.” A compelling mix of louder classic rock and melody-rich classic country, it’s available now for download, airplay and review.

Driven by an indelible fiddle-and-guitar hook and powered by a harmony-laden chorus you’ll sing in your head for days, “Raybans” tells the classic tale of a hitcher (wearing the titular sunglasses) looking to rekindle a lost love. “The high cost of breathing in her space/has me kicking rocks all the way down the Interstate,”guitarist/vocalist Robert James Clark intones. The duel between lead guitarist Anthony Vairetta and guest fiddle player Bruce (Multi Instrumentalist) towards the end recalls the 70’s prime of classic rock, capping off this epic track in suitable dramatic fashion. Emotional and musical highs have fueled Huckleberry Road for years. Guitarist/Singers Clark and Vairetta have been friends and bandmates since their teens, and their telepathic singing and writing is at the forefront of the band. The taut rhythm section of drummer Dillon Secklin and Bassist Keele Rhoads steadily steer Huckleberry Road’s distinctive Western Country sound. With “Raybans” as one of several tracks on the way, expect to hear more of Huckleberry Road.

Jake Jacobson is a 24 year old rising star on the country scene. No stranger to country music, he grew up around his Dad’s honkytonk group “The Shooters” in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Raised in a rural logging/railroad town in Northern California, Jake is a throwback kid from the sticks. His homegrown, small town roots are felt and heard in his lyrics and writing style. With a boot stomping sound combining that of cowboy crooners, honky tonk, traditional country sounds and a hint of southern rock; Jake draws influence from artists like Josh Turner, Scotty McCreery, George Strait, Justin Moore, and Cody Johnson. He released his debut single in 2020 and has more music on the way. When he’s not playing music, Jake enjoys camping, hunting, fishing, and drinking ice cold beers at the lake. Jake is backed by lead guitar player Nick Palacio, Bass player Nolan Stewart, Drummer Andrew Kinsey, and Rhythm Guitar/Pedal Steel player Dalton Kaady. He has headlined numerous shows across the west coast in addition to opening for National Touring acts such as Kip Moore, Ben Haggard, Randall King, Travis Denning, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Logan Mize, and Leaving Austin. Jake takes charge of the stage, entertains with elite ability, and creates energy that connects with the crowd on a personal level.
